Visitors to this magnificent historic building are able to bathe in
thermally heated waters, Take Tea' in the elegant Tearoom & see the Museum.
Built in the 1930s, The Blue Baths was the social hub of the city for generations of locals.
Children learnt to swim here, huge swimming & diving carnivals
were held & it was a popular venue for weddings & social events
through the ensuing decades.

But patronage waned in the 1970s & the building fell into disrepair, eventually closing (amidst public outcry)in 1982.

This remarkable example of Spanish Mission & Art Deco architecture remained derelict for 17 years. It has recently been restored.
The Blue Baths are protected by the NZ Historic
